Kylie . Manchester Castlefield Bowl
The Queen of pop Kylies UK tour continues in Manchester after blasting away Glastonbury with a stellar performance and the biggest crowds ever seen, Kylie was on peak form at the Castlefield Bowl in Manchester this week.
The 8.000 crowd was certainly ready to party and the “Princess of Pop” launched into her 32 years of hits with a bang.
The crowd was singing along from the start with “Love at First Sight“and as ever Kylie produced a spectacle of dancers , glitter bombs and disco balls and the crowd loved it .
Unlike her recent “Golden” tour her post Glastonbury show was 100% “The Best Of Kylie”. It seems she knows what her fans want and by the reaction of the crowd she was spot on.
It was a fantastic celebration covering her whole career from the cheesy early hits now boldly blasted out with “Suddenly” and “Especially for You” ,with no need for Jason Donovan with Kylie duetting with the crowd .
Looking into the sea of fans cheering and seemingly about to explode with excitement she said “This is incredible , to be fair we do go back a long way don`t we ?“. And she was not wrong , after 32 years her fans just can`t get enough and carried out screaming for more.
It certainly was a “Step back in Time“which is the name of her latest album a collection of her hits released after her “Legends Slot ” at Glastonbury and another number one album .Not bad for a 32 year pop career and at 51 years she can still dance the night away in style.
Kylie has managed to reinvent herself over the years and likewise her hits are often reworked , “Confide With Me“was mashed with David Bowie`s “Fashion” and worked perfectly.
Laughing and clearly having the time of her life after “I should be so Lucky “ she giggles “I told you we were going back in time!” before going headlong into the 1980s “Never too Late , Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi, and Hand on Your Heart”
Kylie seems to be enjoying herself as much as her fans and the combined joy and energy was infectious. Rainbow confetti exploding after paying homage to her LGBTQ fans and the touching moment she pulled a fan up on stage to serenade was a nice touch.
Just when you thought the tempo was peaking “All the Lovers” took it orbital, even more pyrotechnics with golden glitter ribbons then “Dancing & Spinning Around“. It made for an amazing encore and the end of a show that seals Kylie as not just one of the most enduring pop performers of the last few decades , but a Pop Princess who is arguably ascending to the Queen of Pop .
