Democrats on Tuesday regained control of the Virginia General Assembly with wins in races across the state.

The Human Rights Campaign is among the groups that backed
Democratic candidates in Virginia in hopes their victory could spur passage of
LGBTQ-specific bills that have stalled in the Republican-controlled General
Assembly.
